70’s pagan and 90’s riot grrrl, oh my!
We’ve been waiting for the 1970's to make a comeback since Ang Lee’s Ice Storm was released in 1997 and guess what? It is finally happening; the late 70’s we’ve all revered and longed for is the hottest trend for s/s 2011.
But… stop perusing mom’s photo albums for inspiration and draw from your first Much Music experience because although our favourite trend is dominating it’s darker than ever.
Peruvian satchel bags, suede vests worn as tank tops, wood heeled platforms and leather clogs. The key to pulling it all together this coming season is to keep it dark. Save your pastels for next winter because fashion consciousness has shifted into Superman’s bizarro world and all things heavily textured are IT for the summer.
So cut the sleeves off of your poet blouse, chop those 2$ high waisted leather pants into booty shorts, and stock up on baby barrettes and you will be hottest thing since a 30year old Kim Gordon.
